If the team left out was deserving then they should have won more games

Everyone has the opportunity to play their way in. They can either win their group or they can earn a wild card spot.

Also, your NFC East example is not accurate. I could pull examples from the past few years where that team either won or played a close game. Look at the facts, not what you want to see.
